Instructions for Making Corn and Sausage Frittata

Step 1: Prepare the Sausage Mixture

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

In a skillet over medium heat, brown the sausage along with the chopped onions and bell peppers. Cook until the sausage is fully cooked and the vegetables are softened. Remove from heat and set aside.

Step 2: Whisk the Eggs

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper until well combined.

Step 3: Combine the Frittata Ingredients

To the egg mixture, add the creamed-style corn, shredded cheddar cheese, chopped basil, and melted butter. Stir to mix.

Fold in the cooked sausage mixture, ensuring everything is evenly distributed.

Step 4: Assemble the Frittata

Grease a 9×13-inch (23×33 cm) baking dish with butter or non-stick spray. Pour the frittata mixture into the prepared dish, spreading it evenly.

Step 5: Prepare the Topping

In a small bowl, combine the breadcrumbs, shredded cheddar cheese, and melted butter. Mix until the breadcrumbs are moistened.

Sprinkle the breadcrumb mixture evenly over the top of the frittata.

Step 6: Bake and Serve

Bake in the preheated oven for 40 minutes, or until the center is set and the top is golden brown.

Let the frittata stand for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.

Tips for the Perfect Frittata

  • Cheese Variations: Swap cheddar for mozzarella or Monterey Jack for a different flavor profile.
  • Add Vegetables: Enhance the dish with chopped spinach, mushrooms, or zucchini for added nutrients.
  • Storage: Leftovers can be refrigerated for up to 3 days. Reheat individual portions in the microwave or oven.
