Ingredients (for 12 servings)

  • Baking Powder: 1 tsp
  • Unsalted Butter: 80g (2.8 oz)
  • Sugar: 75g (1/3 cup)
  • All-Purpose Flour: 1/2 cup
  • Eggs: 2

For the Glaze:

  • Powdered Sugar: 2 cups
  • Lemon Juice: 2 tsp
  • Boiling Water: 2 tbsp


  1. In a large bowl, beat the eggs with sugar until smooth.
  2. Sift the flour and baking powder into the same bowl, and mix well. Add the melted butter and knead into a smooth batter.
  3. Divide the batter among lightly greased madeleine molds and bake in a preheated 180°C (356°F) oven for 10 minutes.
  4. Cool on a wire rack, then remove from the molds.
  5. Mix the powdered sugar with boiling water and lemon juice until you have a thick glaze.
  6. Place the madeleines on a wire rack over a tray. Brush each cookie with the glaze and let it dry.
