Embark on a culinary journey with this delightful recipe for a Huge Lazy Stuffed Cabbage Roll. As a devoted fan of Polish cuisine, I’ve brought home a gem from my relatives—a new take on the traditional lazy cabbage roll. This dish has secured its place in our festive menu, offering a magnificent taste and straightforward preparation. Follow this step-by-step guide, and you’ll have a spectacular dinner awaiting you!
Ingredients:
- 500 g (about 1.1 lbs) ground meat
- 200 g (about 1 cup) rice
- 1 onion
- 1 carrot
- 1 kg (about 2.2 lbs) cabbage
- 200 g (about 1 cup) sour cream
- 250 ml (about 1 cup) tomato juice or crushed tomatoes
- Salt to taste
- Pepper to taste
Instructions:
Remove the outer leaves of the cabbage, cut out the core, and blanch until tender. Trim any tough parts and line the bottom and sides of a baking dish with them. Finely chop the remaining cabbage.
Dice the onion and carrot. Pour tomato juice over the vegetables and sauté for 5 minutes.
Cook the rice until partially done. Mix it with the ground meat, add the finely chopped vegetables with tomato, shredded cabbage, and pour in the sour cream. Season with salt and pepper to taste, then mix thoroughly. The filling should be juicy.
Layer the filling in the prepared baking dish, alternating between meat mixture and cabbage leaves.
Cover the filling with cabbage leaves and bake in the oven at 180°C (about 350°F) for an hour.
Alternatively, prepare lazy cabbage rolls in a slow cooker. Set it to the “Stew” mode for 1.5 hours at 450 W.
Serve the stuffed cabbage roll hot with a dollop of sour cream!
Behold, a substantial cabbage roll, matching its smaller counterparts in flavor! This is the perfect dish for cooks who love preparing simple and quick meals.
