Ingredients for Thumbprint Cookies:
- Butter – 115 grams (1/2 cup)
- Sugar (preferably brown) – 1/4 cup
- Egg – 1 piece
- Flour – 1 cup
- Nuts – 1 cup
- Any jam
How to Make Thumbprint Cookies:
- In a bowl, beat butter with sugar, then add the egg yolk and sift in the flour. Mix thoroughly.
- Form balls from the dough and dip them into beaten egg whites (whisk them slightly with a fork) and then into the nuts.
- Make an indentation in the center with your thumb and place the balls on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
- Preheat the oven to 170 degrees Celsius (340 degrees Fahrenheit) and bake the cookies for 5 minutes. After that, press the indentation again and return them to the oven for another 15 minutes.
- Once the cookies are ready, spoon jam into the center. Optionally, you can put the cookies under the broiler for an additional 5 minutes. Cool on a rack.
