Ingredients:
For the Filling:
- 500 g (about 4 cups) peeled and pitted peaches, each sliced into 8 segments (canned peaches with a firm texture can be used)
- 1/2 cup (120 ml) sugar
- 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
For the Dough:
- 1/2 cup (60 g) all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup (100 g) sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/8 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup (120 ml) milk
Additional:
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted for greasing the baking dish
- 1 cup (240 ml) equals one standard cup measurement
- Baking dish dimensions: 28 cm by 17 cm (approximately 11 inches by 7 inches)
Instructions:
For the Filling:
In a large saucepan, combine peaches, sugar, and lemon juice. Bring to a boil over high heat, stirring constantly. Reduce heat and simmer for 4 minutes, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat and set aside.
Preheat the oven to 190°C (375°F). Pour the melted butter into the rectangular baking dish.
For the Dough:
In a medium bowl, mix flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Then, pour in the milk and stir until well combined.
Evenly spread the dough in the baking dish over the melted butter (do not mix with the butter!). Arrange the peaches on top along with the juices (do not mix with the dough!).
Bake for 30-35 minutes until golden brown.
