Ingredients

  • 500 gr. cod steak
  • 2 large ripe tomatoes diced
  • 1 tbsp of tomato paste with a hill
  • coriander bunch (chopped)
  • salt to taste
  • pepper,sugar
  • 1 tbsp. wine vinegar
  • chili powder to taste
  • 3 Tbsp. vegetable oil
  • 1 onion sliced in half rings
  • 6-7 sliced garlic cloves
  • 150 ml water
  • a little lemon juice
  • 50 grams chopped walnuts

Georgian-style cod stew

Instructions

  1. Pour lemon juice over the fish and set aside.
  2. Heat up a frying pan and fry onion and garlic (do not overcook!).
  3. Add tomatoes, walnuts, chili, tomato paste, salt and pepper, sugar, water and stir.
  4. Put lid on and simmer on low heat for about 10 minutes.
  5. Place the fish pieces in the sauce so that the fish lies on the bottom of the pan and the sauce on the fish pieces, pour the wine vinegar over it.
  6. Cover and simmer for 10 minutes, taste for salt, sugar, put a pinch of coriander and simmer for 10 more minutes.
  7. Turn off and serve hot or cold
