In this world, there are thousands of garden flowers and millions of varieties, but only one has been hailed as the “queen” for over a century—the rose. A bouquet of roses is always a desirable and versatile gift for any occasion. However, cut roses tend to wither quickly.
But you can bypass the trends and flower shop advertisements and present your loved one with a unique gift—a living rose that will bring joy for a long time.
You’ll only need a few things:
• A rose
• A good-quality potato
• Soil
• A small pot
• Drill
• Plastic bottle
Here’s what you need to do:
Remove the leaves and the bud from the rose. It’s crucial to make a cut rather than tearing them off, as that could irreparably damage the plant. Cut the stem at a 45-degree angle, around 3 cm from the bottom.
Use a drill to make a hole in the potato that’s large enough to insert the rose stem. It should hold the stem firmly.
Fill the pot with soil, leaving about 5 cm of space. Place the potato in a way that the rose stem stands vertically, and fill the container with soil up to the top.
Cut off the bottom of the plastic bottle and use the neck to cover the stem like a plastic “cap.” This will create a greenhouse effect.
Give the rose a little bit of water.
Now, wait for the shoots to appear. If desired, you can add some fertilizer—it won’t hurt. The rose will grow very quickly.
Enjoy the result!
