Simply Delicious: Curly Pie with Strawberry Filling

Ingredients:

  • Eggs – 2 pieces
  • Wheat flour – 500 g (4 cups)
  • Butter – 200 g (1 cup)
  • Sugar – 250 g (1.25 cups)
  • Vanilla extract – 0.5 tsp
  • Baking powder – 1 tsp
  • Strawberry jam – 200 g (1 cup)

Preparation:

  1. Prepare the shortcrust pastry for the pie. Melt the butter in a small saucepan. In the meantime, sift the flour with baking powder.
  2. Pour the melted butter into a deep bowl and mix it with sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract.
  3. Slowly add the sifted flour to the liquid mixture, kneading the dough. Once ready, divide it into two parts. Put the first part in the freezer for 1 hour, and roll out the second part to the desired size. Place it in a greased baking dish and cover it with a layer of jam, approximately 1 cm thick.
  4. Retrieve the dough from the freezer and grate it using a coarse grater. Generously sprinkle the jam layer with the grated dough, and bake the curly pie in a preheated oven at 200 degrees Celsius (392 degrees Fahrenheit) for 25 minutes.
  5. Once done, cut the pie into elongated rhombuses and dust with powdered sugar, sparking debates about whether this dessert is a pie or a cookie. Either way, it’s incredibly delicious, and the preparation is a breeze. Save our shortcrust pie recipe and be sure to share it with others!
