You’ll stop buying store-bought bread! Quick and easy!
Ingredients:
- Flour – 3 cups (360 grams per cup)
- Olive oil (optional) – 2 tsp
- Salt – 2 tsp
- Dry yeast – 2 tsp
- Warm water – 1 cup (240 ml)
Instructions:
Dissolve the dry yeast in warm water and let it sit for 5 minutes, allowing the yeast to activate. Add the flour, salt, and olive oil (if using), and mix until you have a crumbly dough.
Sprinkle your work surface with flour and knead the dough for 5-7 minutes, until it becomes smooth, cohesive, and elastic. Place the dough in an oiled bowl, cover it with plastic wrap, and let it rise in a warm place.
The dough should double in size. Divide it into 8 equal portions and roll them into flatbreads of medium thickness (approximately 5-7 mm).
You can cook pita on a stovetop griddle or in the oven. If you’re using the oven, preheat it to 220°C (430°F), place the pitas on a baking sheet, and bake for 3 minutes.
When the pita takes on a slightly spherical shape, it’s ready to be removed from the oven. Cover the cooked flatbreads with a clean towel.
Cooking on a stovetop works just as well. Heat a skillet, add a few drops of oil, place a pita on it, and within about 30 seconds, you’ll see bubbles forming. Flip the pita over.
Cook for a couple more minutes, then flip it again and cook for a couple more minutes.
Serve immediately!
You won’t need to buy pita from the store anymore; these homemade ones are quick, easy, and irresistibly delicious. Enjoy!
